Facts & FAQs

WHY USE SOY WAX?

Soy wax is naturally derived from the oil that vegetable soy beans create.
Our soy wax is made in the USA. Most household candles are made with paraffin wax, which is derived from petroleum - a refined gasoline product.
The paraffin wax most big-brand candle creators sell contaminate the air you and your family breathe in.

Soy wax is biodegradable, renewable, and easily cleans up with soap and warm water. Soy wax has a lower melting point than paraffin wax so your candles will burn for a longer period of time. Soy wax burns with zero petro soot, creating soot free candles, which means your flame will not throw black smoke.

Please be advised that your candle may have "frosting". Since we use natural soy wax, the frosting is a sign of re-crystallizing, in which the soy is trying to return to its natural state. This minor imperfection is a natural effect that does not affect the fragrance, the way the candle burns, or it's shelf life.

WHAT IS THE PROPER BURNING METHOD FOR BELLA'S VELA & AROMAS CANDLES?

Always trim your wick to 1/4” before each lighting; we've trimmed it for your first lighting.

After lighting the candles, be sure that the melted wax pool reaches the edges of the vessel before extinguishing. Our candles can take up to 3 hours to achieve a full melted wax pool. If you extinguish your candle before the top diameter of your vessel is full of melted wax, your candle can "tunnel" and will not burn evenly the next time you light it.

"Tunneling" is when the candle burns downward and will not allow the wax to reach the edge of the vessel, essentially wasting the wax that remains on the sides of the vessel.

Properly extinguish your candle using Bella’s Vela & Aromas Candle Snuffer. Burning the candle longer than 4 hours can evaporate the fragrance too quickly and weaken the scent throw of your candle over time.

Always keep the candle away from children, pets, and any drafts. Do not move a lit candle; it is hot and could spill, more importantly it is an active flame that can ignite objects.

HOW LONG WILL THE CANDLES BURN FOR?

Our Mini 4 oz tin candles can last approximately 25 hours when burned in 3-4 hour increments.

Our Regular 9 oz candles can last approximately 60 hours when burned in 3-4 hour increments.

Our Big 16 oz candles last for approximately 100 hours when burned in 3-4 hour increments.

If you keep your wick trimmed and don’t leave your candle on for a total of 10+ hours a day, the candle can last longer.

HOW FRAGRANT ARE THE CANDLES?

The candle size should compliment the room size that the candle is burning in. Candles need oxygen to burn so it is recommended not to have more than one candle burning in the same room.

Bella's Vela & Aromas candles use a heavy load of fragrance but not so much that it disturbs the sensitive soy wax.

Our Mini 4 oz tin candles have a smaller diameter and are meant to fill a small room with fragrance, such as a bathroom.

Our Regular 9 oz candles are perfect for bedrooms.

Our Big 16 oz candles have 3-wicks which create a larger wax pool that can throw more fragrance and fill a much larger, open space.

LET’S TALK WAX MELT WARMERS...

Did you know that there are various types of Wax Melt Warmers that provide various results in the fragrance scent throw???

Electric wax melt warmers do not all provide a consistent fragrance throw because the amount of heat being emitted from the bulb vary in each model of electric wax warmers.

Wax Melt Warmers that use tealight candles are a preferred choice because the amount of heat from the lit tealight's flame can quickly liquefy the wax melt and cause a strong fragrance throw that can fill any space in a matter of minutes!

We are happy to offer Wax Melt Warmers that have been tested and proven to provide the best fragrance throw!

HOW TO USE A REED DIFFUSER?

  1. Uncap the bottle containing the Reed Diffuser oil and pour a couple ounces of oil into the glass diffuser vessel. Recap the oil and store it in a cool, dry place. This will preserve the oil’s fragrance for as long as possible.
  2. Put the reed sticks inside the jar, arrange them artfully & enjoy! Flip them whenever you want a fresh burst of fragrance.

Keep in mind that flipping the reeds more often will cause the oil to evaporate more quickly. Place the diffuser out of reach of pets, children and anything that might cause it to spill. You can put a placemat or coaster underneath it to catch any oil drips.
Change the reed sticks whenever you change the oil. Reed sticks get dusty and clogged with oil over time, and regularly replacing them will ensure you have the strongest fragrance possible. If you’re going to be away from the house for a while, flip the reeds before you leave and again when you get back for a fresh-smelling home!
We also have Reed Diffuser Refills for when you run out of oil.
